Amos Lee @ the Northrup Auditorium
Amos Lee did a soulful performance at Northrup auditorium. The new band he is touring with compliments his folk/rock style & with these musicians Amos is more than just an east coast soul singer. He is a Philly guy & like his buddy Daryl Hall vocals are his calling card. He has collaborated with symphony orchestras around the country & tonight I was envisioning him in front of SPCO. Maybe some day when he comes back here.
This is the fist twin cities performance I’ve seen of Amos I hope he comes back to a venue as nice as Northrup. This tour is pushing his new album Spirit, I sure hope at least one song makes it past sirius radio & on to main stream charts.
Opening act for Amos was another Philly guy Mutlu, an outstanding singer/writer who has also worked with Hall & Oats. My highlight for the evening was a duet from Amos & Mutlu doing the perfect song ”Sara Smile”. The harmonies & vocals brought me back to 1975, during the chorus you could close your eyes & hear Hall & Oats.
If you want to see Amos in true east coast style check out his performance with Daryl Hall at Daryl’s house #66.
Daryl does lead singing on this song but hearing Amos sing puts me in a Philly mood.
