ZZ Ward at the Hilde

The Hilde performance center in Plymouth is a beautiful outdoor venue & July 30th was a hot day, even the mayor came out to say hi to the crowd.  ZZ Ward born Zsuzsanna Eva Ward has an edgy blues voice that sounds like she has been singing blues since she first yelled “Mama” – a newer artist that could be the next Bonnie Raitt.   ZZ is blues all the way but you can hear some hip hop influences way down deep.  She was the headliner this evening on another great SMA show & Eric Hutchinson was opener.  ZZ started the evening with “Put the Gun Down” this is her signature sound, many in this audience know it well.  ZZ is usually working on several projects & if you ever get a chance to hear her acoustic or unplugged performances you won’t be disappointed.

Her 4th song “OVERdue” is another ZZ message clearly saying don’t piss me off ever!   At the age of 12 the 1st song she sang was the Albert King track ‘As the Years Go Passing By’.  I did not catch her on Letterman or Good Morning America.  If you made this show you can see why ZZ is selling out many of her venues.

Here is an acoustic version of “Put the Gun Down” ZZ recorded this at Guitar Center, it gives you a nice listen to her modern blues style.
